★ ブリスベンの知り合いからお見舞いメールが届いた。

少し前に洪水災害に遭ったブリスベンの様子に触れながら、その時に見た報道番組のことが書いてあった。

When I watched the news at night, I could not accept the terrible questions reporters were asking poor people. Folk who had lost everything were being asked "how do you feel that you have lost your home?, or how do you feel about not knowing if your family is alive?" Me I wanted to punch them for being so heartless.

被災者に愚問を投げかけるレポーターとそれに憤る視聴者の構図というのは世界共通なんだな。

そして、こんな風にも書いてあった。

Anyway when Japan got hit I saw some news and read more in the paper, as I felt that we were watching poor people again suffering and we didn't need to see people crying and devastated, but it was "news entertainment" for news people, and they did not really care about the poor people. So I am very sorry for your country.

慟哭する被災地の光景で意気消沈させるばかりではなく、元気を出そう、金使おう、と前向きになるような映像は作れないものだろうか。
